Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage is known as champissage in India and it is performed almost anywhere. Massage in India is a way of life; it is used for relaxation, bonding, ceremonial and social events. Babies receive daily massages until the age of three, these are reduced to two or three times a week until the age of seven when the children perform massages on their siblings, parents and grandparents.

Indian head massage is traditionally performed in a chair and is both a stimulating and relaxing treatment which concentrates on the head, neck, shoulders, upper back, arms and face. Oils are used to condition the hair, scalp and skin but the treatment may be adapted if the client prefers to remain fully clothed or essential oils added to enhance the benefits. Chakra balancing is incorporated to add depth and completeness to this treatment.
